How We Roll. Pumpernickel and Rye Style.
Blog Nosh Magazine is a virtual buffet of blog content. However, we are more the kind of buffet you might find at a casino: neither Italian, nor Mexican, nor Creole, nor American. We are better for you than a dessert bar but more sinful than a salad bar.
And like most buffets, the majority of our fare has been festering in the back of the kitchen for a while (harhar, a joke meaning our content comes from your blog archives, sans mold). We just happen to have a knack for freshening it up before offering it to the early-bird crowd.
Perhaps a metaphor involving wine would have been more appropriate? After all, we are highly selective. Noted.
The most important thing to remember when sampling what we place on your table is that we don’t ask that you always like what we are serving, just that you try it.
This week has been a fascinating week at Blog Nosh. Here we are, noshing left and right with posts about homosexual marriage, body image, lost and found love, finding our place in the right church, making the most of the day we are given, adoption and abortion, homeschooling with flavor, and poking a bit of fun at men and their egos… when all of the sudden we slip in a (gasp!) favorable post about George W. Bush.
You’d think a rat ran through the kitchen.
After a succession of glowing posts about President Barack Obama and not a peep of dissension slipping into the comments, one post bidding farewell to Bush brings on the mad cow disease. Not necessarily only in the comments, though. Bleeding onto twitter and kirtsy and beyond: Blog Nosh Magazine has gone mad. We posted something conservative.
Simultaneously and seemingly independent of that backlash, I am asked on twitter if Blog Nosh is just another liberal magazine.
And then I was pretty sure I was the one with mad cow.
We are neither liberal nor conservative. We are neither… ah. Why bother?
But I should know better. The Internet has a desperate need to label label label. If you can’t be fit neatly into a box, then you are too confusing and generally better off ignored.
Certainly you are a momblogger? A tech blogger? A gossip blogger? Okay then, a liberal blogger? Ah, no, you are a conservative Christian blogger? Um, entertainment blogger? Foodie? Help?!
The blogosphere is large enough for a larger community. It sorely deserves one. One far less compartmentalized.

Blog Nosh Magazine spills outside of the lunch box. And we are proud of it.
But we know we have a lot of tough eggs to crack.
When we plate something unfamiliar to you, or even something you are sure you won’t like, all we ask is that you try it. If you don’t like, at least you tried. However, if you don’t like it, we’d appreciate that you not call the chef a hack and claim that the kitchen stinks of feet.
(another joke. seriously, when are we getting that sarcasm font?)
We are not white bread. We are not wheat bread. We aren’t even sourdough.
Blog Nosh Magazine is pumpernickel and rye. Next to a bowl of hummus. Stacked neatly on top of a box of Fortune cookies. In front of a bag of chips. Baby, that’s how we roll.
Ready to roll with us?

Wow! I had no idea featuring me would stir up so much. Thank you for doing it. Personally, I’ve really enjoyed reading so many dissenting view points presented so well. This community is one of the best on the web, and certainly one of the most unique.
Jennifers last blog post..When Obama Says This Stuff, I Don’t Think He Really Means It
Jennifer, we are happy to have any blogger that is willing to consider dissenting opinions. I really should note that I am proud of the vast majority of our readers and commenters in that they have been mature in expressing their opinions. That’s what we want! Tell us what you think of this interesting post we found!
That being said, I am particularly proud of you for not becoming defensive. A strong point I have not and one we can all stand to work on as writers.
Hopefully this will demonstrate to other bloggers that all views are welcome here, as long as everyone is willing to play fair and not resort to “yo mama” jokes.
Blog Nosh is NOT in contention for TWO 2009 Webbies because it fits neatly in a box! Its layout is more than appealing, it’s visually striking. Thankfully, it’s not limited to great STYLE devoid of substance, the varied, diverse content challenges readers to consider new perspective, walk in another’s shoes, and yes, take at least one bite off of everything on your plate.
I love that about Blog Nosh. It’s a fondue pot for meats and cheeses and fruit, oh my! I’m proud to be associated with it; I read with my eyes open, looking for great posts to submit.
And the funniest thing about this week’s “controversy”? When I first saw it mentioned on Twitter, I thought it must be from a post about President Obama! Living in the heart of the Bible Belt, well…it never occurred to me venom was being spewed over former President Bush until I checked out the post myself.
For the most part, though, I thought comments were respectful in their dissent (if they didn’t agree); I appreciated the restraint and intelligence and even generosity extended in the discussion.
Happy times, Nosher…happy times

(Oh, and have you voted yet? Love Blog Nosh? Let us know! http://2009.bloggies.com/)
Maybe we’re like Pushing Daisies in bringing new life to dead pieces. (Anyone have a clue as to why that amazing show was canceled? Boo on the networks!)
Seriously, this is why I love Blog Nosh. A little bit of everything. If you don’t like it, wait until the following day.

I read you guys every day. (But I don’t comment, my bad.)
While I am not a fan of the former white house occupant – can I request an “understatement” font – but I appreciate the fact that the Nosh publishes everything and everyone of interest.
If I only wanted to read about our new prez, I’d never leave Kos.

Thank you for providing a service FAR too few in this “Information Age” choose to do–show both sides of an issue.
I have been most proud to call Jennifer my friend for several years now. She is the kind of blogger I only aspire to be and wish I had time to become. She is a kind, warm-hearted soul with a heart of gold and a fantastic wife and mother. Her only “cyber-crime” is daring to analyze the issues and think for herself instead of regurgitating what gets spoon-fed by the mass media. If only more of us would dare to use our own gray matter–and, at times, simply agree to disagree–what wonders we could accomplish!

I also love it here because it’s a bit of everything. Right, left, mom, dad, gay, straight, tech, craft, all of it. A Nosh. A mix. A whole lot of greatly crafted blog posts brought together. That’s what makes it great here, it’s not what’s being written, it’s HOW it’s written. That lends a hand to every voice.
I prefer a choir over a soloist any day.

Frankly, I loved that you posted it and that you strive to find material that highlights differing points of views.
I live in a place where there is very little diversity and most people try to be “the same” and I would be disappointed if this were a shoebox type of magazine because I LOVE differences. (Even if they want to make me stick a fork in my eye sometimes, I truly prefer it.)
It just reaffirms that I am in the right place.
GO, BLOGNOSH!
