Story Bleed Magazine has been live for just over a month and, while we consider that ample reason to celebrate, we would like to take a moment to thank you for making our rebranding such a success. After a few brief acknowledgements, in fact, we have a surprise for you.
Frankly, having not shared the fact that we were rebranding Blog Nosh Magazine as Story Bleed with anyone before revealing the change during BlogHer in New York, I personally did not expect the powerful narratives that we have been receiving so quickly. As a kick-start to our relaunch, our Hope Remains carnival sponsored by Tide Loads of Hope delivered stories far more moving than we had expected. The carnival, culminating in the Faith Hill concert in New Orleans marking the fifth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, was a resonating success and we thank you. We thank you for pushing your limits and telling stories in ways that many of you had not attempted before. How exhilarating! How validating!
We love when you surprise us, but we adore when you surprise yourselves.
Which brings us to our surprise for you: If you have not already heard, Story Bleed is in print!
As a preview to an intended quarterly print publication, we have published a 20-page preview issue of Story Bleed. Compiled with the help of Managing Print Editor Arianne Segerman of To Think is To Create, it is a preview issue of such aching beauty, we absolutely must get it into your hands. Holding it in your hands is, in fact, the point. From the Letter from the Editor:
Paper. Ink. Dots per inch. A mind for design that falls outside of the bleed.
There is something about holding a book, a magazine, a photograph, a story in your hands. More than a pliable object you can roll up and swat an encroaching spider with, the printed story satisfies in a way no website can deliver.
So. You need a copy.
After distributing hundreds of copies to attendees at BlogHer in August and seeing their delighted reactions, we are making our Preview Issue available to you, for free!
